On the one-month anniversary of the drilling diaster we came together at 45 vigils and rallies to call on President Obama to have a 'Crude Awakening' and re-instate the moratorium on offshore drilling - as a result of public outcry President Obama extended the ban for 6 months.

It's a step in the right direction, but not enough - now is the time for us to plant our heels into the ground, and call on President Obama and Congress to stand up to Big Oil with unprecedented leadership towards a clean energy economy.

The Senate holds the cards on a number of these issues. In the wake of this tragedy we must call on our Senators to remove offshore drilling from pending legislation and to fight for a clean energy future.

"Hi, my name is ____________ and I'm a constituent of Senator ______.  I'm calling to ask the Senator to stand up to Big Oil by supporting a ban on new offshore drilling, and opposing Senator Murkowski's 'Dirty Air Act.'"
